New job, new path

I've recently done the one of the most life changing decisions of my life. I changed career. Wow shock horror! It's actually a pretty scary thing to do. Throughout education I've been focused on Media and Make-up, then in jobs I've worked in Retail, Hosting and Acting. I've now dived into the scary (and big) world of Marketing. More specifically, I'm a Marketing Assistant and I manage all the Social Media pages and run events. Me, 20 year old piss baby, has to take charge for once, and it's one of the best decisions I've made of my life. I know it's still early stages, but for once I don't feel like it's a chore to get up.  I'm not a morning person and I never will be but the 7am alarm isn't so tedious anymore. It's a little bit sad that I'm not working at a Theme Park, there was always something so weird and wonderful when you told someone you worked on a Rollercoaster, BUT I can see Chessington World of Adventures from my office window. You can leave the Theme Park but the Theme Park never leaves you.

One problem that no one really warns you about when changing career directions is the amount of rejections you get. My god. I have a pretty swanky CV, it's got columns and colours and shit, yet no one wanted to even give me a chance. I was sure that I was just an awful human with nothing to give, but then I one day I just kept pushing and pushing, and look at me now! Fancy! If there's one thing you get from this rambly post, it's to keep on going. Rejection emails are awful and half of them don't even get your name right, if they can't get your name right which you've plastered everywhere, then they're not worth your time. Most places just look for keywords in your CV's and stuff, and normally unless you've had 3+ years experience in a certain area they won't give you their time of day. Prove yourself, add in cover letters, portfolios, embrace the fact this is a new start for you and show them that you're determined to make the most out of it. Also, always go for a place that has dogs. Dogs are the best.

Once again, this is a rambly chat with nothing to do about anything. I just wanted to... talk. I'm a busy bee right now getting the ropes of everything but open season is SO SOON so expect 143947 'I'm hyped' tweets coming up in the next few weeks. #sorrynotsorry

Speak soon,
